The Undertones were formed in Derry, Northern Ireland, in 1975 by John ONeill, Damian ONeill, Feargal Sharkey, Billy Doherty amp Michael Bradley. In May 1979 they released their critically acclaimed, classic debut album The Undertones. Recorded at Eden Studios in Acton and produced by Roger Bechirian, the album itself was recorded in the space of less than four weeks. It peaked at 13 in the UK Charts.With the albums twominute, threechord pop songs full of unabashed joy, there is very little pretension in the Undertones unapologetically teenage worldview.
